Old-Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream 16g carbs

  • Vanilla Ice Cream

1-1/2 cups sugar
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/8 t salt
8 cups light cream
2 beaten eggs
4 t vanilla

In a large saucepan combine sugar, gelatin, and salt. Stir in half the light cream. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture almost boils and sugar dissolves. Stir about 1 cup of the hot mixture into the beaten eggs; return all to the saucepan. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Cool. Add remaining cream and the vanilla. Freeze in a 4-5 quart ice cream freezer according the the manufacturer’s directions. Makes about 3 quarts. (24 servings)
